The APOGEE English Press met with the coordinator of the Students Academic Cell (SAC), Shreyas Mishra, to discuss their involvement in APOGEE ‘25.
Shreyas began by explaining that SAC dealt with everything related to academics, and worked closely with all the academic bodies, acting as a bridge between the faculty and the students. He said that they consistently worked towards upholding the standards of education and ensure progress in the student-faculty relationship.
He added that the SAC would continue their tradition and host ‘Quantaculus’—their flagship event. He remarked that the competition would involve three rounds—an online quiz as the first round, the second being a case-study round where participants would have to solve problems involving concepts from probability and statistics, and the third round would be a mix of coding and integration. Shreyas revealed that the level of questions would be increased this year to make it a more challenging experience for the participants. However, he promised a bigger prize pool as compared to last year, and showed his willingness to improve the competition by increasing their efforts designing the same. He expected an increase in the off-campus participation due to the increased prize pool.
One would witness the theme of APOGEE ‘25—‘Revved-Up Rhapsody’ make a significant appearance in the case study round, Shreyas conveyed. He shared that although the initial setting up of the event was difficult because of delayed budgeting events and minor hurdles, they were now focusing on making the experience as jitter-free for both the participants and the SAC.
Shreyas shared that it had been a wonderful experience working with CoStAA and the institute, and appreciated their hard work considering the weight they bore on their shoulders. He mentioned that the previous year had been successful for the SAC in terms of publicity, as they had been vocal with their work, and had released helpful documents, such as the SOP Chronicles. Shreyas shared that it had been a surreal experience being the coordinator, as he has led his group to all their achievements over the last year.
On a concluding note, he invited all the students to involve themselves in the proceedings of APOGEE ’25, and experience the scientific culture of the college.
