Poorvansh Kavta, the CoStAAn for the Department of Art, Design, and Publicity (ADP), took a brief break from working at Student Activity Center (SAC) to speak with the APOGEE English Press about the work that ADP does and provide an overview of what has been and remains to be done with APOGEE 2023 right around the corner.
ADP has three primary verticals: Painting, Structures and Publicity, and a new vertical, Media Relations, which was created a few years ago.
Poorvansh stated that his experience as a CoStAAn has been nothing short of incredible, and that managing the work of a department as large as ADP entails a great deal of responsibility. He added that the enthusiasm the freshers exude is infectious, and it makes for an amazing environment to work in.
Concerning the theme of APOGEE 2023, A Hivemind Genesis, the Painting vertical has ideated and created artwork based on the concept of “The Hivemind”, while the Structures vertical has created work based on the concept of “The Evil Rogues”. Poorvansh stated that the majority of the Painting and Structure work had been completed, with only the finishing touches remaining, which would be completed and installed well before APOGEE began. He added that the mismatched schedules of freshmen and seniors was one of the challenges that ADP faced during the preparatory phase leading up to APOGEE. Poorvansh had anticipated the possibility that the work would slow down, so he had given the juniors work to do during their semester break and the following weeks. As the Structures Coordinator for Oasis 2022, he had noticed that his vertical’s work often followed a vague and jumbled schedule, which made deadline days stressful. Seeing this, he planned the work efficiently over a longer period of time, so that the majority of the work was done well ahead of schedule.
Poorvansh signed off by saying that he was proud of everyone who has and will be contributing to ADP. He hoped that this edition of BITS Pilani’s annual technical extravaganza would be a major success.
