Audi Force, one of the departments which ensure that professional shows are devoid of any sort of chaos, usually works for the Oasis inauguration, and shows like N2O and EDM Night. The department also takes care of some other events at the Rotunda and SR grounds. ‘This year, entry for events will be based on scanning of audience ID cards. No stubs will be issued. This makes the process more authentic, and easier’, says Sai Raju, the coordinator of the department, who is currently in his third year.
This year the department has requested for guards from the institute, who will relieve work pressure on the department members during the jam-packed professional shows. ‘Last year, for the shows at SR grounds, all our department members had to stay outside the entrance just to control the crowd. That is why we have requested the Chief Warden for a couple of guards to help us in this process.’
The department’s functioning has not changed throughout Raju’s stay at BITS. However, the quality of equipment at their disposal, such as barricades, has significantly increased. The coordinator feels that the manpower of the department is sufficient – ‘We are 40 members, including the third year students, and this is more than enough to do our job for any fest or event’.
He also appreciated the StuCCA and SU for being cooperative and interactive throughout the StuCCA meets that have happened – ‘Flow of information is very vital for the smooth conducting of any event. Better communication between different departments working for the event will only enhance the experience of the audience. So far, it has been going very well’. As far as inventory is concerned, everything can usually be arranged with ease, and the department faces no issues in this regard. Although the department members are free to attend any minor event happening during the fest, they seldom attend the professional shows completely, as they spend most of it managing the enthusiastic spectators.
