AudiForce

The APOGEE English Press sat down with Aditya SSV, the APOGEE coordinator of the Department of Audiforce, to learn more about the department’s responsibilities during the upcoming fest.

Aditya explained that Audiforce’s primary work is crowd control, and managing the entry and exit points at Prof and Audi shows. They do this by checking people’s tickets and the passes distributed to BITSians for backstage access. Working in and around South Park and the Main Auditorium, they are tasked with escorting VIPs and the Chief Guest to and from these shows. Ensuring that no prohibited substances enter these premises is also one of their responsibilities, he added.

The brunt of the work of the department is during the fest. When asked about their pre-fest work, Aditya mentioned that it consists of planning and deciding where to place barricades for the seamless movement of the crowd in and out of the venues.

When asked about how work is distributed in the department, Aditya informed us that they have about 50 members. The first-years handle scanning QR codes and supervising backstage entry points, with the second-years overseeing them. The third-year members handle any issues their juniors are unable to resolve. One of the most pressing problems they have to face is dealing with the unexpected delays that arise during each event. The crowd usually gets agitated against Audiforce members, but Aditya said that they have learned to keep their cool and get through these tense situations.

He reassured us that the department functions to ensure that the fest runs as smoothly as possible. He also mentioned how the department has grown closer to each other over the years, even calling it ‘a family next to family.’

Concluding this short interview, Aditya shared that being a coordinator has been a fun experience for him, and wishes everyone a good, safe fest.
