Note: This interview was conducted before it was finalised that no professional shows will take place in the Main Auditorium

The APOGEE English Press sat down with V. S. Siddarth, who asked to be called V.S.S, to inquire about the department’s work and function during APOGEE.

V.S.S shared that the primary role of the department was to ensure that any and all events taking place in the Main Auditorium do so smoothly, and with as few delays as possible. As a result, the department acts as a point of contact between the various clubs and departments conducting events in the Main Auditorium.

He said that this APOGEE, the department had two major auditorium events to manage: the Inauguration Ceremony, and the professional shows taking place in the auditorium.

V.S.S pointed out that the biggest problems they usually face during the fest were ensuring that delays or BST for events stayed as close to none as possible and maintaining constant communication with other clubs and departments, most of which were busy with other work, like professional shows in South Park or other aspects of managing the fest.

Furthermore, he drew attention to two other events the department conducts: Jeopardy and Polybius. Jeopardy is a quiz like the game show of the same name on television conducted in the Main Auditorium, while Polybius is a showcase of retro arcade games, obscure and defunct pieces of technology, and other cool things that would appeal to ‘tech geeks.’ He also highlighted the fact that each year, the department worked on making a 3-D structure that was usually displayed in the Backstage QT. They tried to integrate the fest’s theme into this installation.

On a parting note, he advised the student body to make the most of the time they get during the fest, and to take this time for themselves to relax and enjoy.
