With a few days left for BOSM, the BOSM English Press sat down with Tashi, the captain of the Girls’ Badminton team.
With both Singles and Doubles matches scheduled for this year, Tashi stated that the team is working hard at practice. They train for an hour and a half in the mornings and evenings. She added that every player tries to come at least four times a week in the morning and every day in the evening. Tashi mentioned that her team is more skilled at singles matches than doubles. To work on it, they’re playing with the Boys’ team more and trying to match their pace. The team has also faced issues with procuring feather shuttlecocks for their practice sessions, eventually having to buy their own.
When asked about her experience leading the team, Tashi said that there were a lot of added responsibilities. She mentioned that she had to show up for every practice session and keep track of everyone’s performances and injuries, among other details. She said that it had also made her more serious with regard to her own gameplay. She added that although balancing her academic workload and the team was tough work, it was a welcome change from her usual college life.
Tashi ended by assuring that the team would give their best in the tournament.
