Bedrock ‘25 had commenced its sales at 12:30 PM, with teams transforming their restaurants into vibrant spaces adorned with fairy lights, balloons, carpets, and more. The auction, held on the 13th of February, had witnessed the top fifteen teams bidding for their preferred restaurants , with several teams offering a share of the day’s revenue to secure the most sought-after locations. Posters and standees promoting different challenges and discounts were set up to boost sales. Each team had received a card with sixteen tasks such as maintaining a 1:1 gender ratio in the restaurant to shaving heads, each contributing to the team’s score.
A member of the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, (CEL) had been stationed at each restaurant to oversee operations and ensure adherence to the event’s rules. These members maintained a shared spreadsheet, updating it regularly to reflect team scores, and posted leaderboard updates on the event’s WhatsApp channel. They had introduced the concept of ‘bounty,’ where the identity of the person marked so remained undisclosed. However, teams had been given specific clues to identify the individual and convince them to dine at their restaurant—a high-scoring task that could significantly boost their standing. A commotion erupted in the streets as crowds of people engulfed the person they suspected to be the bounty.
Footfall had been low in the afternoon, with professors comprising the majority of the crowd. A group of professors met with the team leaders to discuss their strategies and the incentives offered to attract customers.
As evening approached, Connaught’s atmosphere morphed into a bustling hub of activity. The stakes had begun to rise as teams decided to revamp their game and increase the incentives to draw more customers. The members of the team “Tandoori Nights” ran around, echoing cries of ‘Free Red Bull at Sharma’s!’ Meanwhile, the Vada Pav challenge at the Golden Dragon restaurant witnessed an influx of customers.
Countless teams offered challenges in exchange for discounts and free meals. The Dhamakedar Vedant Mafia (DVM) team, which operated out of Kamal’s, offered Bedrock-exclusive dishes like mutton curry, and had PS5 stations set up to attract customers. RecNYap challenged customers to beat one of their team members at Fifa to avail discounts at Annapurna restaurant.
As the event drew close to the end, Gullu’s engaged in a speaker battle with Sharma’s and DCC, each striving to outdo the others in terms of volume and popularity. The atmosphere had reached electrifying levels with music coursing through the vibrant Connaught streets. The team BALLS (Brilliant and Legendary League of Scholars) operating Gullu’s, were declared winners with a whopping final total of 7,549,370 in points and revenue.
The event had concluded with a grand afterparty, featuring fireworks and a powerful speaker system blasting popular hits. The primary objective of Bedrock had been to boost the revenue of Connaught’s restaurant owners, and each participating team had played a pivotal role in achieving this goal.
