Beg, Borrow and Steal, a self-explanatory event conducted by the Department of Informalz, saw a significantly large turnout this Oasis. In the war of events in the 2 PM slot, they managed to draw most of the crowd to the FD2 QT. To the uninitiated, the format of the BeBoS is as follows: teams are given a list of items, categorised into different point groups based on the difficulty in acquiring them. Items in the list are not necessarily restricted to physical objects, and possibly include images, sounds, or even emotions.
This year, the creative people over at Casualz compiled a list of fifty items which was vague and lacked much potential for innuendo, an unusual occurrence. As soon as the lists were given to the teams, they marked their territories in the FD2 QT. The first few minutes were the same for all the participants; acquiring all the items that were easy to get, like your mom.
Eventually though, the crowd began to get desperate and resorted to bizarre physical contortions to cross out some of the items of the list. As the finishing time got closer, participants could be seen scampering about, calling in all favours to win these irrelevant bragging rights. Keen observers may recollect a group of DU broskis who would dab after they crossed off any item from the list. Unfortunately, their limited creativity resulted in them managing to dab only 7 times.
The last leg of the event was dominated by the steal element. Teams were performing an interesting variant of kabaddi, with threats and assault becoming a common sight. Nonetheless, BeBoS saw a slightly unprecedented turnout and was a wonderful event to be incorporated into BOSM, giving participants a much-needed respite from the gruelling sports they played. It also gave Informalz a chance to interact with humans who don’t speak in illai pillai.
