Biological Association

The APOGEE English Press sat down with Aryan Agarwal and Arfa Ali Shaik, the joint APOGEE coordinators of the Biological Association, to get an insight into the events that they would be conducting this upcoming fest.

Aryan revealed that the Biological Association would be conducting three events this year. The first event was Murder Mystery—the Biological Association’s signature event—a treasure hunt spanning across campus, where participants would act as detectives investigating a murder and its cause. The second event would be Dexter’s Lab. Aryan mentioned that this event was an escape room where participants had to solve questions to gain the combination to number locks.

Arfa said that their third event was called Jugaad Jumanji, and would be ‘the first of its kind’. Describing the event as ‘a life-sized game of Snakes and Ladders’ conducted at Rotunda, she explained that it would be an ‘exciting team event’ where participants would roll the dice, land on different numbers and complete tasks to move forward.

Aryan shared that they had started preparing for the fest at the beginning of the semester. He mentioned that the most important thing was to involve everyone in the ideation process.

Elaborating on the challenges faced, Aryan stated that the budget was a big issue. Apart from that, he explained that they would have to decorate the entire Rotunda area themselves for Jugaad Jumanji. However, staying true to their event’s name, he said that they were trying to find various ‘Jugaadu ways’ to efficiently complete the tasks within the allocated budget. He exemplified this by talking about how they were arranging things for the tasks from their own hostel rooms. Additionally, he remarked that it was sometimes difficult for their team to allot so much time to the preparations because of academics and evaluatives.

Aryan said that they had ensured complete fairness in all events, revealing that not even members of the Association knew all the clues and answers in Murder Mystery. Concluding the interview, Arfa urged BITSians to attend all their events, assuring them that they would prove very exciting.
