Although there will be no more issues for this year’s BOSM English Press (BEP), it would be remiss of the BEP to fail to cover the final day of festivities. After all, the closing day of BOSM’26 featured intense matches that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. 

The medal matches in football, volleyball, and basketball garnered significant attention and generated their fair share of controversy. Since it was also the last day of the food stalls, both GymG and VK-Lawns witnessed a much larger crowd than usual. Consequently, there was a spike in wait times at the photobooth and the tattoo stall. 

The highly anticipated women’s volleyball bronze medal match proved to be one of the most exciting fixtures of the day. To the delight of the home crowd, the BITS Pilani team led a commanding victory over the MSIT Team. The team had wrapped things up by the fourth set, winning all but the second. This match was preceded by the men’s volleyball finals match between BITS Pilani and JECRC. Marked by a continuous exchange of taunts between the two sets of supporters, the atmosphere remained heated throughout the match. Despite the vociferous support, BITS Pilani ultimately fell short, with JECRC taking the gold medal. 

Another similar match that had the crowd on its edge was the men’s semi-final cricket match between DU’s SGTB Khalsa College and BKBIET Alumni. A physical altercation erupted between the teams after one side was penalised for playing too roughly. The fate of the match was eventually decided by a super-over, with the latter making it to the finals and taking the win home.

Conflict similarly disrupted the men’s basketball semi-final match between BITS Pilani Alumni and MUJ. Following a disagreement with the referee, the former walked off the court, bringing the match to a halt. After considerable discussion, play finally resumed. The MUJ team displayed exceptional strategic prowess and defeated their opponents by a significant margin to storm into the finals. However, MUJ ultimately fell short of securing the gold medal, with their opponent, Bennett University, taking the title after defeating them in the finals.

To lighten the atmosphere, the evening also featured the university’s flagship comedy show — ‘N2O’. Propelled by a smaller amount of ‘BST’ compared to the previous BOSMs, this year’s performance featured Vidit Sharma and Aaditya Kulshresth, along with two openers from BITS Pilani’s Comedy Hub. Their fast-paced, interactive set was filled with witty jokes and punchlines that left the audience in stitches. This was followed by a lively, energetic after-party at the Students’ Activities Centre (SAC), bringing this edition of BOSM to an exuberant close.
