With BOSM just a few days away, the BOSM English Press sat down with Jayant Kapoor, the BOSM Hindi Press (BHP) Coordinator for a brief interview. He relayed that the BHP is responsible for conducting pre-fest interviews of the CoSSAc as well as interviewing the Chief Guest for BOSM. In addition to that, they published daily newsletters during the fest and organised an open mic commentary event called Spotlight, for sports like volleyball and basketball, where spectators can deliver impromptu commentary for matches.
Jayant stated that there would not be many changes introduced to the format of this year’s BHP newsletters. The newsletters would feature match scores and interviews with the outstation participants. Additionally, the latest updates would be posted on the Hindi Press Club’s Instagram account. He further added that match highlights and pictures will also be posted on their new WhatsApp channel Khabarnama, which has garnered a wide audience in a short time span.
Jayant mentioned that it had been taxing to get the new recruits accustomed to the club’s writing style, but praised their efforts in having learnt it quickly. With classes not being suspended during BOSM, Jayant recognised the challenge but said that his workforce is prepared for the same. Furthermore, he hoped that the administration would suspend classes from the next edition onwards, so that it would be easier for students to work during the fest without compromising on academics.
Jayant stated that he has had a great experience as the BOSM Hindi Press Coordinator so far. However, he expressed dissatisfaction with lesser funds being allocated to the BHP this time as compared to the previous editions, as a lack of published articles would have a great impact on their reach.
On a concluding note, Jayant urged the GBM to read their newsletters as the club members put in a great effort in writing and publishing the articles. He also advised freshers to not leave for home during the fest and enjoy it to the fullest.
