Student Activity Centre (SAC)

SAC is a hub for art, music, dance, and sports aficionados. Located at the heart of the SAC are 13.4 x 6.1 badminton courts, a pool table room, well-kept table tennis courts, as well as a squash court. It is generally open from 6–8:30 AM and 5–8 PM, and functional for longer hours during the weeks before fests. Various departments and clubs are allotted rooms here to complete fest-related work. In addition to this, the SAC also contains an amphitheatre where various events are held occasionally.

Information Processing Centre (IPC)

Located in the New Academic Building (NAB), rooms 6114–6117 are computer labs accessible to all. These rooms have air conditioning, satisfactory Wi-Fi speed, and most importantly, rolling chairs. Eatables are strictly prohibited in these rooms, and the computers can only be utilised for academic purposes. It is open from 9 AM to midnight, with hour-long breaks at 1 and 7 PM. For first-year students, the practical classes of the Engineering Graphics (EG) and Computer Programming (CP) courses are held here.

Classroom numbering system

The numbering system of the classrooms and lecture halls is not as chaotic as it seems at first glance. FD-1 is short for Faculty Division–1, and all rooms in FD-1 start with 1. For example, 1201 is the first classroom in FD-1, floor 2. Floor 1 refers to the ground floor and floor 2 is the first floor. Room number 2203 is located in FD-2, floor 2, the third classroom. Similarly, the FD-3 rooms start with a 3 and the Old Workshop rooms with a 4. LTC, or the Lecture Theatre Complex, is denoted with a 5 (for example, 5102). NAB rooms are those that start with a 6, and the rooms starting with a 7 are located in the New Workshop, near Srinivasa Ramanujan (SR) Bhawan.

Akshay Supermarket

Located on the road leading to C’Not, Akshay is a general store that consists of everything a student could need, from toiletries to stationery to various packed foods as well as sports equipment. For students settling in their new rooms, bedding materials like mattresses, bedsheets and pillows are also available to buy. It is open from 9 AM to 1 PM and 5–8:30 PM.

UCO Bank and ATM

Located behind Vishwakarma Bhawan is the trifecta of the bank, the BSNL office, and the Post Office. It is operational from 10 AM to 4 PM on weekdays; students can avail bank facilities such as opening and closing accounts, completing transactions, and most importantly, withdrawing cash using the ATM.

Post Office

Nestled in a tree grove behind the Old Workshop building, the Post Office serves as a valuable utility for not only BITS students but folk from Pilani as well. While facilities such as fixed deposits, savings accounts, recurring deposits, and more are available, students will be more interested in sending parcels and speed post, which can be done from 9 AM to 1 PM and 1:30–4 PM. Postage stamps can also be obtained from 9 AM to 5 PM.

BSNL office

The BSNL Customer Service Centre, also home to the office of the sub-divisional engineer, is located behind the Old Workshop. Operating from 10 AM to 5 PM on all days except Sundays, this service centre attends to any troubles regarding SIM cards, and fibre and broadband connections. As the only BSNL Customer Centre in Pilani, it sees more traffic from locals than BITS students.

ATMs

Dispersed throughout the campus are Automated Teller Machines, in case one finds the need to withdraw cash. Several ATMs are present on campus—an ICICI ATM to the right of Akshay Supermarket, a UCO ATM at the UCO bank, and an Axis Bank ATM in front of the Malviya Mess and the Laundromat Centre.

S9

Whether it is for printouts for an open-book quiz happening the next day, or glossy flyers one needs for club auditions, S9 is the lifeline to fulfilling one’s stationery and printing needs. The name S9 originates from the days when FD-3 used to be called the Science Block or the S Block. Located at the FD-3 entrance, S9 remains open from 9 AM to 8:30 PM. One can avail facilities including printing, photocopying, and laminating along with stationery resources such as pens, notebooks, and more.
