Priyanshu Pareek, also known as “Sharry”, a Day Scholar in his junior year, will be contesting the upcoming 2023 Students’ Union Elections as a Presidential Candidate. After giving a brief introduction of himself, Priyanshu spoke of his experience working in the Students’ Union. Having been a member of the SU Core Committee in his first year, and the Day Scholars’ Representative in his second year, Priyanshu claimed that he had quite a bit of knowledge on how the Students’ Union functioned, and what was required from its’ Office-Bearers. He said that working with the previous SU Presidents had helped him understand the mentality required to fulfil the motto of the Students’ Union- “Your voice at work”.

When asked about his motivation to contest the elections as a Presidential candidate, Priyanshu said that working with the SU had made him realise that the “responsibility factor” of the Presidential post would  help him give his all for the betterment of the campus. He felt that his vision for the campus could be best fulfilled only through the Presidential post.

Addressing his fellow candidates in the election, Priyanshu acknowledged that while the competition was quite good, his deeper understanding of the Students’ Union’s functioning and his cumulative experience gave him an edge and set him apart from his competitors.

Signing off, Priyanshu urged the GBM to read the manifestos and SOPs of each candidate before casting their votes. He also requested the voters to spread word about candidates they preferred, as he explained that relying on official campaigners alone for publicity was quite difficult, considering the large campus population.
