Chapter, a recent startup by a few BITSians, is the most recently-formed group conducting events this Oasis. Rudra Nagalia, the Joint-Coordinator of Chapter, sat with the English Press Club to explain their purpose and functioning.
Sensing a dearth of opportunities for up-and-coming artists, the startup aims to create a network of hobbyists and performers who can collaborate to find event managers who could give them an opportunity to get a break. He explained that this is targeted at people who wished to grow their hobbies beyond mere pursuits and become professionals. This gap, however, is treacherous as many aspiring artists are unable to make the transition. In order to bridge this gap, Chapter connects the demand with the supply, promoting raw talent that would have otherwise gone unnoticed.
Rudra said that Oasis is merely a testing platform for an idea that they hope to establish as a startup. They do not wish to compete with the many other musical shows and events of the fest. ‘We just want to contribute to the diversity of performances at Oasis and provide a stage for talented artists’, he said. He was appreciative of how the StuCCA has been supportive of such an initiative. He concluded by requesting the students to attend a few performances by these budding talents and encourage them in their endeavours. As a new, independent entity, working for the fest with a novel idea, Chapter is expected to provide the breakthrough that every artist has been waiting for.
