As APOGEE 2025 approaches, the APOGEE English Press sat down with Devansh, the coordinator of the Civil Engineering Association, to discuss their plans for the upcoming fest.
Devansh mentioned that they wanted to conduct fresh events to shake things up. To that end, the association will host two events: Bridge Blitz and Safeguard Your Tower. Bridge Blitz, a legacy event, is a bridge-designing contest. The bridges will be tested on their structural stability and load resistance, and the strongest bridge will be announced as the winner.
The second event—Safeguard Your Tower—will be introduced this year. Two teams play against each other in a time crunch where one team builds a tower from cardboard boxes and the other aims to topple it with the help of sponge balls. The roles will then be reversed, and the team quickest to demolish the tower shall be declared the winner.
Devansh spoke about their preparations for the fest, stating that their work began in January and that they had obtained a clear picture of their events by late February. He praised his association members and said that he had a good team filled with supportive and dedicated people. He added that they had initially faced a few problems due to the small size of their workforce, but the issues were resolved. He mentioned that the association was a bit nervous this year as they would be conducting a new event that had not been tested before.
Devansh mentioned that he had a good experience as a coordinator, and that he welcomed the challenges he faced and took away positive learnings from them. He thanked the CoStAA for their support.
On a parting note, Devansh urged everyone to step out of their comfort zones as the actual learning experience begins there and hoped that everyone enjoyed the fest.
