Coding Club (CC)

The Oasis English Press (OEP) sat down with S Rohan, the Coordinator of the Coding Club (CC), to discuss their work for the upcoming fest.

Rohan began by explaining changes in their club’s workings. They were moving from working on fests to working on long-term projects, so the only event they would be organising this fest is in collaboration with the OEP, where the answers to the OEP’s crossword would be sent via a QR to a digital interface and automated checking.

He then went on to talk about the Code Duel platform, a project that they had been working on. Unlike typical competitive coding websites like Codeforces, which had competitions among thousands of people, they would conduct one-versus-one style competitions. They were building this platform from the ground up without any external resources. He stated that this was in light of the deteriorating competitive coding culture on campus.

He revealed that they encountered a few errors and bugs in the project, which took quite some time to fix. Apart from this, he said they didn’t encounter any major issues. Rohan stated that his experience as a Coordinator has been good so far, and that it was both instructive and rewarding in bringing all the verticals of the club in unison for the project.

On a parting note, he asked all the readers to enjoy the fest, as they would not get another chance like this after college.
