The Oasis English Press sat down with Aashay Agarwal, the Coordinator of Communo, to discuss their preparations for Oasis ‘24.

Aashay explained that Communo focused on improving the ‘soft skills’ of BITSians and its own members. He further stated that the club would host three events during Oasis: a stall, an expert’s talk in collaboration with the Department of Art, Design, and Publicity, and OasisRadio.

He elaborated that their Oasis stall would be situated in the parking lot of Krishna Bhawan and consist of two mini-games. Additionally, he stated that this year’s theme will be incorporated into the stall, as people would be allowed to place bets on the winners of the mini-games and avail kind points or cash prizes. Their collaboration with ADP would involve renowned content creators sharing their life experiences. He also stated that the previous year, acclaimed creators such as Payal Jain, Tina Jain, and TarunSpeaks had been involved. 

Aashay explained that as the latest addition to their roster, the preparations for OasisRadio were done from the ground up in collaboration with the Department of Visual Media and Utkarsh Tiwari, the founder of YapCast. 

Aashay stated that maintaining a constant flow of communication with the multiple bodies they were collaborating with had posed a challenge for them. However, coordinating with the StuCCAns had been pretty smooth and had presented no problems. Aashay emphasised the importance of working together as a team and explained how it allowed the club to function efficiently. 

Aashay mentioned that his experience as Coordinator had been enjoyable, albeit stressful. Furthermore, he praised his predecessors’ efforts in establishing the club, while also appreciating the work ethic and dedication of their newest recruits.
