With Oasis right around the corner, Abhishek Jain, the co-ordinator of the Creative Activities Club (CrAC) was extremely busy, with work ranging from building structures to attending meetings. Still, he managed to take time out of his busy schedule to talk to OEP about the club and its plans for Oasis 2019.
CrAC organises a variety of events namely Contrasto, Canvas Street, the ever popular Splash. A new event, Art-O-Polis, is being introduced this Oasis.
Abhishek expressed the fact that the theme ‘Neon Noir’ was rather unique, and allowed the club to experiment and play with colours. He also revealed that a tinge of neon was going to be added to the panels this year. He also claimed that neon was new to the club and talked about the importance of lighting when incorporating neon colours.
On being asked about the clubs’ pre-fest preparation, he talked about about the CrAC Level Booster Challenge. The challenge is a club initiative designed for juniors, wherein participants are made to draw and create art based on the fest theme, so as to understand it. The juniors are also provided training on how to use grids, paints, and other basic tools. The club is hierarchically organised, wherein freshers are guided by second year students who are in turn guided by the third years. Abhishek talked about the evolution of the club and claimed an increase in footfall over the years.
Abhishek described his experience as a coordinator to be tiresome because of the workload involved, but he was happy to be around people who share the same passion as him. “Art is about discovering your passion and expressing your emotions, ” he said. He hopes that the BITSians take this into consideration and attend all the events organised by CrAC this Oasis.
