With Oasis ‘24 just around the corner, the Oasis English Press sat down with Bhavini Pahuja, the Coordinator of the Creative Activities Club (CrAC), to gain information about their role in the fest.
Bhavini started by explaining that CrAC handled the art-related events that happened during Oasis. She said that they would conduct four events this year — Splash, Canvas Street, Graffiti Room, and Cup and Mirror event. Bhavini explained that Splash and Canvas Street were returning events. She remarked that Splash was a face painting event at Rotunda which saw a footfall of over 300 students last year. She further explained that Canvas Street was a friendly painting competition where teams of two to three members could participate.
Bhavini added that this year, Graffiti Room would be conducted in place of Galleria, owing to a budget crunch and low footfall in previous years for the latter. She explained that Graffiti Room was a unique event where students could use spray paint cans to create artwork. In addition to these events, Bhavini mentioned that CrAC would be conducting a Cup and Mirror event where students could purchase pre-painted cups and mirrors and paint their merchandise.
She stated that the major hurdle faced by the club was the lack of time due to mid-semester exams and the festive season. To address the time crunch, she explained that longer work sessions were conducted. Bhavini spoke fondly of the relationship between the members of the club. She explained that the juniors were free to pick a domain they wished to learn in the club.
Bhavini shared that her experience as a Coordinator was a hectic one. She said that she had had sleepless nights, having to juggle her academic responsibilities along with her commitments. She said that despite this, she looked forward to the sessions, and interacted with the juniors to ensure they enjoyed the work.
On a parting note, Bhavini urged the students to enjoy the fest thoroughly and not miss out on the minor events. She encouraged students to try out various events by CrAC as they offered unique experiences.
