Creative Activities Club

The APOGEE English Press interviewed Vishwam Kastoori, the APOGEE coordinator of the Creative Activities Club (CrAC) to learn more about their plans for APOGEE ’25.

Vishwam emphasised the centrality of the theme to a large segment of their work, such as the letters. He described the theme of the fest—Revved-Up Rhapsody—as largely retro-futuristic in character, and explained that the club worked towards seamlessly enmeshing the theme into the letters.
Additionally, he mentioned that this year, his club would be conducting 3 events for APOGEE 2025––namely Splash, Graffiti, and Cups & Totes. Splash refers to CrAC’s popular face-painting event, conducted at Rotunda. Graffiti is an event in which participants are free to make their own graffiti and wall art. Cups and Totes is a relatively new event, having begun only in the most recent Oasis, and involves the club’s members making custom designs for customers on cups and tote bags.
Vishwam stated that Graffiti replaced an older event, Galleria––in which club members exhibited their own artworks related to the theme of the fest––in order to facilitate greater audience engagement and induce more interest in the club.

Vishwam added that the club will also be making a structure called an  armillary sphere for this fest. He also said that they would finish painting the wall in front of Looters, which is nearly complete.

Vishwam stated that their work sessions began in mid-January and were typically 2–3 hours long. Following the mid-semester examinations, their length has increased to 4–5 hours. “The pre-mid semester sessions were largely dedicated to designing and making the fest’s letters. Work on the other structures and events was largely done during the post-mid semester sessions,” Vishwam noted about the nature of CrAC’s work

Vishwam was highly positive about his experience in the club. He emphasised the flexible, democratic nature of the club. Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to his fellow club members and juniors, all of whom were highly supportive of him.
