With BOSM just around the corner, the BOSM English Press sat down with Ankita Choudhary, the BOSM Coordinator for the Creative Activities Club (CrAC), to learn more about their work for the fest.
Ankita explained that CrAC took part in creating the aesthetics and decoration of the campus during the fest, including the structure spelling out the letters of BOSM in GymG, as well as the BOSM official mascot, Baxter. She said that the club started the preparations two weeks into the beginning of the academic year and was three-quarters of the way done.
When asked what preparatory work the club does, Ankita described how they build the letter structure from scratch, working on the references, anatomy, sketching, and painting. She outlined the planning that goes into designing the art on the structures so that they are cohesive and fitting to the theme. She offered her praise to all her juniors who put in the hard work to get these tasks done.
She noted that their face-painting event, Splash, was introduced in BOSM just last year, though it was not publicised much. Ankita said a lot more planning was put into it this time to advertise and organise the event on a large scale. She also spoke of CrAC’s tradition of building the BOSM structure, which is lit up at the inaugural ceremony by the chief guest. She said that this time around, to make the ceremony a major highlight, the torch-lighting will also be accompanied by a march with the sports team captains.
When asked about any setbacks faced, Ankita said they faced an issue with getting their budget approved for an event, which ultimately ended up being cancelled. Apart from that, she noted that her juniors and new recruits have been quite enthusiastic and cooperative and that she was ‘loving the entire vibe’ in CrAC at present.
Speaking about her experience as a Coordinator, she said that it had been challenging as well as fun. She added that her peers had been a great help, and she did not have to face many challenges alone. She spoke of how, being a Coordinator, she had gotten to see how all the different committees, clubs and departments come together to execute a fest successfully.
On a parting note, she urged the general public to appreciate the hard work that goes into beautifying the campus and to recognise the efforts of all the departments and clubs that work behind the scenes.
