Cubing Club

The Oasis English Press (OEP) sat down with Aryan Bharadwaj, President of the Cubing Club, to gain an understanding of their preparations for the upcoming fest.

Aryan mentioned that the Cubing Club had an inventory of around 1800 cubes, which they use throughout the year to construct mosaics on various occasions. He brought to attention various mosaics made for BOSM, Ganesh Chaturthi, Japan Day, and Garba Nite. Their main event during this Oasis was a mosaic as well. He also mentioned that the club conducts a cubing competition and a puzzling quiz on Oasis. The club planned to integrate the fest theme “Whispers of Edo” into their mosaic, as well as into the quiz.

When asked about how the club managed to procure the considerable volume of cubes they possess, he exclaimed that they had just  been lying unclaimed in SAC since a pre-COVID event that took place in the college.

He mentioned that the club faced some setbacks in the EPMs due to not being a revenue-generating club and thus were unable to secure a budget. However, they managed to overcome this by utilising revenue from the Japan Day and Garba Nite mosaics. He noted that while the cubing competition doesn’t result in a considerable turnout due to the high skill barrier, the mosaics are very popular with the student body, as evidenced by the amount of pictures clicked and uploaded of and with them.

According to Aryan, this Oasis would be counted as a success for the Club if they manage to get tagged in multiple Instagram stories from students posing with their mosaics, and also if they achieve a good turnout for the puzzling quiz.

He ended by encouraging the student body to enjoy this fest to the absolute fullest, and added a special note for all seniors with PORs to trust their experience, worry less, and enjoy the four days ahead.
