With BOSM ‘26 just around the corner, the BOSM English Press sat down with Kabir Ugale, the BOSM coordinator of the Dance Club (DC), for a quick chat about their preparations for the upcoming fest. 

Kabir started by mentioning that this was the first time they were performing for the BOSM inauguration. They usually had not performed during BOSM due to time constraints, but this year, he felt that BOSM could be used as an opportunity to bring the four verticals—Contemporary, Folk, Western, and Semi-Western—together in a single performance. He noted that with this additional workload, practice had become even more strenuous, stretching up to five hours some days. 

Kabir shared that the response they had gotten from their workshop and auditions was overwhelmingly positive, and that it had been quite disheartening to let go of many deserving candidates. When asked about other plans for the Dance Club this BOSM, he mentioned that the club would, for the first time,  be performing a flash mob on the stage during the concert. In addition to that, they would also be performing other flash mobs hyping up various sports finals. 

Talking about their performances, Kabir revealed that for the inauguration, the club was preparing two shows: one based on Fight Club and another on the song “Malahari”. The latter would be performed only by freshers, and he expected it to be ‘very audience-engaging’. 

In his parting words to the GBM, Kabir encouraged everyone to attend DC’s workshops, stating that he hadn’t danced at all before coming to BITS, and it was through the club that he had discovered his love for it. He stated that the Dance Club was a very tight-knit community and a huge pillar of support for him during his years on campus, and it had pushed him to become the best version of himself.
