With APOGEE right around the corner, the APOGEE English Press (AEP) sat down with Bhoomika Jain, the CoStAAn of the Department of Art, Design, and Publicity (ADP), to understand the department’s role in this fest.
Bhoomika explained that the primary role of ADP was to bring the fest to life through decorations, structures, and publicity of the fest. Their major responsibilities had included putting up decorations across the campus, managing the official social media handles, and arranging media collaborations with influencers and media houses.
This year, with the theme being ‘Revved-up Rhapsody,’ ADP had incorporated a steampunk theme throughout all of their works, adding an industrial and rusty vibe to the fest. They had also included elements of racing to emphasize the “Revved-up” aspect of the theme.
Apart from this, the department is also responsible for managing the inventory distribution for all participating clubs on campus. This year, however, Bhoomika mentioned that they had faced a few financial issues, delaying inventory distribution by two to three days. This issue had been eventually resolved, and the department then resumed its duties without further delays.
When asked about ADP’s collaborations with other departments, Bhoomika highlighted their close association with the Department of Visual Media (DVM). She mentioned that both departments had worked together to finalize the theme for APOGEE. Additionally, they had jointly handled the projection on the clock tower, a long-standing tradition of APOGEE. ADP also maintains close relationships with other departments for tasks such as media collaborations, sponsor publicity, poster design, and accommodations.
ADP also plays a crucial role in club activities by providing event aesthetics and helping clubs execute their vision effectively. Bhoomika praised her team’s dedication, especially the enthusiastic juniors who had attended work sessions diligently, remained actively involved, and ensured that the department’s operations ran smoothly.
On a final note, Bhoomika requested the batch of 2024 to actively participate in APOGEE 25, as departments and clubs work tirelessly to bring the fest to life.
