Department of Audiforce

With Oasis just around the corner, the Oasis English Press (OEP) sat down with Sasank Tumpathi, a third year student and the Coordinator of the Department of Audiforce, to learn more about the department’s participation in Oasis ‘25.

Sasank explained that the department primarily focuses on talking with the barricading vendor, the Chief Security Officer (CSO), and the Estate Management Unit (EMU) of BITS Pilani for getting the South Park ready for the Prof Shows. During the fest, its main duties are ticketing, crowd control, and managing passes to the VIP box and the Professors‘ box.

Sasank revealed that this Oasis would be much more challenging as they expected a larger crowd than usual, owing to the fact that students do not have to pay separately for each professional show. He further talked about how they managed entries during events. They planned to use a two checkpoint system for the normal entries and a three checkpoint system for VIP entries. Sasank remarked that every year more than a hundred people manage to sneak their way to the VIP zone through unfair means. He added that while it was inevitable for some people to do so, the department was in talks with the StuCCA to find means to minimise it. When asked about talks with the barricading vendors, Sasank expressed discontent with the previous barricading vendor. He told us that for Oasis ‘25, they hired a new vendor who had also been hired for  BOSM ‘25 and had met their expectations. Sasank told us that while they would be managing entries by scanning QR codes or barcodes on the Oasis App, they were still looking for alternative methods, as this system was not very robust.

Talking about the distribution of responsibilities in his department, Sasank mentioned that the Department has two Joint Coordinators—one to manage intra-department allocation of tasks and another to manage communications with the EMU. Sasank, as the Oasis Coordinator, was more involved in coordinating with other departments and student bodies. He shared that new recruits were well prepared, as they had experience working during BOSM, and they were very adaptable.

Sasank concluded by urging all the students to be careful, and strictly adhere to the rules, regulations, and safety guidelines released. He suggested not coming from alternate entrances or jumping over fences for one’s own safety. Lastly, he asked everyone to make sure they enjoyed the fest.
