The APOGEE English Press sat down with Anushka Shukla, the joint coordinator of the Department of Photography (DoPy) to get an overview of the work that the department does during APOGEE.
According to Anushka, DoPy participates in the Batch Snaps and APOGEE Snaps, along with a Photo Booth during the fest. This time, they will not be having the photo booth, as it did not make enough revenue in the past.
When asked about the challenges the department faced, she stated that they do not have enough cameras, due to their previous stock being stolen during the pandemic. However, one of their existing cameras has an issue with the SD card slots and is out of commission. They requested for another camera last APOGEE, but they were not able to get one, despite having the necessary revenue. When asked about this edition of the fest, she mentioned that the department filled out the necessary forms to acquire a new camera, but never received a reply. They were then told to borrow a camera from the Film Making Club. However, she mentioned that they received the camera without a battery, which according to her, was ‘sad’.
Anushka said that her experience as a coordinator has been fun so far. Since she shares the job, the workload is relatively lighter, and she has therefore enjoyed working for the fest.
To conclude, Anushka said, “I would like every person who joins and leaves BITS to know that the Department of Photography is the best department in BITS”.
