Almost every fest that has ever happened, or is likely to happen, in BITS Pilani has but one constant – “Do you want a snap?” The question is so well-known that any non-first yearite doesn’t need to wait for the ‘notepad holder’ to say anything, as seeing the accompanying ‘camera guy (or girl!)’ is usually enough of a tip off of what is to come. With DSLR’s and first years at his arsenal, Yash Tibrewala or Tibby– the Oasis coordinator for The Department of Photography looks forward to the fest!

DoPy, as the department is commonly referred to, generated a surprisingly large amount of revenue for the fest. “It takes the combined effort of everyone in the department to get things done smoothly,” Tibby says. “It’s a long and arduous process, but we’ve always managed to have fun doing it, and that’s what the department is all about,” he added with a straight face.

In addition to the general “Do you want a snap” shenanigans, DoPy keeps itself extremely busy with designing, producing and selling diaries, and also keeping the Photo Booth up and running! It’s no easy task, as Tibby says, “We design and sell diaries too, and the photo booth doesn’t just run itself.” Quite rightly so.

As the coordinator, Tibby has mixed feelings. “On the one hand, I get to delegate a lot of work, but on the other, following up is quite tedious.” He has given his assurance that everything will run smoothly, and everything is on track thanks to the first and second years making quite the effort.

We can only hope that Tibby’s hopes for this fest don’t take a tumble down a hillside. It seems unlikely. After all, who doesn’t like being clicked?
