With Oasis just around the corner, the Oasis English Press sat down with Ishita Agrawal, the StuCCAn of the Department of Publications and Correspondence (PCr), to shed some light on the department’s work for Oasis ’25.
Ishita explained that the department was primarily responsible for bringing in outstation participants from colleges across India to compete in or view the various events that take place during the fest. She further elaborated that for shortlisting the teams, they conducted online preliminary rounds in collaboration with the Department of Theatre (DoT) and the Dance Club, after which they officially invited them to the fest. Apart from this, she added that PCr was also responsible for reprography, conducting the Oasis Snaps at Sky Lawns, and catering to the printing requirements of all the clubs and departments, ranging from standees to coordinator fest passes. Ishita mentioned that the department had started updating their database of contacts and designing the brochure and posters for the Oasis way back in July, but the major portion of the work for them began around two months before the fest.
She remarked that in the days leading up to the fest, PCr had to additionally coordinate with the Departments of Reception and Accommodation, Firewallz, and Controls, to ensure no issues arose in the welcoming of participants.
When asked about any major challenges, Ishita answered that this year, they faced an acute shortage of female accommodation. She explained that this was due to the fact that they generally had an entire hostel complex allotted to them for female participants during Oasis, but couldn’t get it this year owing to a larger batch size of students than the norm. This led to them having to be pickier about teams, but she assured that they did eventually find ways around it.
Ishita said that her experience as StuCCAn had been fantastic so far, and that she looked forward to seeing the fruits of her efforts at Oasis. She added that the StuCCA had worked very hard to ensure that the fest was enjoyable for all, even with the various constraints they faced, and hoped that the GBM looked upon it kindly.
