The Oasis English Press met with Rahul Gupta, the StuCCAn of the Department of Visual Media (DVM), for a brief chat about the department’s preparations for the upcoming edition of Oasis.
Rahul explained that DVM was primarily responsible for designing and developing the fest’s official app and website. He added that they had also aptly modified the signings portals—developed for events and merchandise in the previous edition of APOGEE—for Oasis ’25. Additionally, the department had also made videos for the fest, including the official theme reveal, the curtain raiser, as well as multiple artist publicity videos.
On trying out something different this year, Rahul relayed that DVM had used SFX for the first time on the landing and transition pages of the website, to improve user experience. He also highlighted the improvements made to the app, such as a redesigned home screen, as well as club-side access to the signings portal, among other features.
Rahul revealed that DVM was prepared for any contingency that could arise during the fest, and that both the app and the website had been tested on multiple levels. He added that one or two members of the department would be up at all times to address any issues that may arise during the 96 hours of Oasis.
Rahul lauded the work of his juniors and department members, and said that it had been a ‘very exciting yet tiring’ journey spanning over eight months, and that he was satisfied with their work. He noted that his experience as a StuCCAn had been very different from what he had expected—stating ‘all that glitters is not gold.’ He added that while it had been a ‘massive responsibility’ to shoulder, requiring considerable commitment and long working hours, it would stick with him as one of the ‘best memories’ from college in the years to come.
He expressed confidence in the success of Oasis ’25 and encouraged future StuCCAns to continue improving the fest each year.
