With APOGEE just around the corner, The APOGEE English Press recently sat down with Parth Gokak, the coordinator of DExA, to discuss the workings of the department.
Parth started off by providing an insight into the events their department had previously conducted. The major one he mentioned was Aarohan, an all-India olympiad for students of grades 9–12, which aimed to cultivate scientific developments in students and help them understand and develop an interest in STEM. The second event he referred to was Minifest, in which they collaborated with various clubs of BITS Pilani and conducted competitions.
Parth assured that most of the preparatory work for the fest had already been done, and the events were organised to represent the theme—Revved up Rhapsody, in creative ways. He showed gratitude to CoStAA for being so helpful and ensuring smooth working with the department.
Parth enlightened us about the pros and cons of being a coordinator and talked about how, although it gave him a sense of power, it was but a role of responsibility only a few could efficiently undertake. Talking about planning, Parth said that he maintained the workings of his department to ensure there was no communication gap and scheduled regular meetings.
Parth concluded by humbly requesting the public not to mind all the children running around on campus during the fest. ‘They are only working for their future and curiosity through Aarohan,’ he added.
