DVM

The Department of Visual Media (DVM) is responsible for making the promotional videos and for providing technical support to other StuCCAn departments, ensuring the fest go as smooth as possible. This includes the creation of the registration portal, and the maintaining of the official website and mobile application. Tushar Goel, the StuCCAn of the DVM, was kind enough to give us an insight into the work the department does and his role as its head.

This year too, the app contains the wallet and the ticketing feature, as well as an Event Management System (EMS), which was first introduced in APOGEE 2019. The theme of the fest has been incorporated into the app in the user-interface. A primary new feature in the app will be that, PayTM can now be used as a transaction medium in any fest-related purchase. Their main focus, however, is to improve the user-experience rather than adding any major new features. The fact that Oasis was scheduled to be only two weeks after the mid-semester exams meant that most of the ground work was done during the summer.

‘Earlier, the various teams that we have, worked separately, but as time went by and the workload increased, the teams had to work together,’ said Tushar, speaking about the evolution of DVM. According to him, their work was simpler back in 2013, when there was only the website. RegSoft, multiple PCr portals, the app, and many more additions would follow, increasing their efforts manifold.

Tushar so far has had a good experience being the StuCCAn, finding the rest of the body to be more than competent. He finds himself working on things that do not come under the purview of any department or club. ‘Since I have only three courses this semester, it hasn’t been as hard juggling this responsibility with my academics.’ Tushar implores the students of BITS to stay on campus for Oasis as he feels that there is an amazing line-up of performances, and that the clubs and departments have put in a lot of effort to make the fest a success.
