DVM – Hitesh Raghuvanshi

Pre-fest work of the Department of Visual Media entails making the official APOGEE website and the APOGEE app, along with promotional videos and software that the various departments and clubs use for registration and internal coordination. ‘DVM eases out the technical hurdles for others during the fest. But working on the same set of things for every fest is boring, so we try to bring out something new each time’, says Hitesh Raghuvanshi, the DVM CoStAAn.

This APOGEE, DVM plans to implement an ‘APOGEE Wallet’. Students can download the official APOGEE app on their phone, login with their BITS id’s and add money to their wallets, which will be deducted from their SWD accounts. This eliminates the usual hitches of lost ID cards being misused and food coupons going missing. No other fest has had such a system in place and DVM believes this is a huge leap forward for APOGEE. The app is currently under test and facing minor bugs, but Raghuvanshi is confident that the app will be free of glitches by APOGEE.

He feels that a little more support from the institute can go a long way in cultivating the right attitude among the students and improving the fests– especially APOGEE, as it can help improve the academic culture on campus. ‘Sponsors have offered to recruit interns for summer based on the APOGEE Innovation Challenge and a better student representation in such events can perhaps boost the placement prospects in the coming years too’, Raghuvanshi said.

‘The CoStAA wanted a theme related to Artificial Intelligence for APOGEE, given the recent developments and subsequent surge of interest in the field’, he explained when asked the reasoning behind the theme of the fest. APOGEE 2018 is scheduled to offer a complete balance of entertainment and learning and has something in store for every BITSian.
