Eateries in sister campuses

GOA CAMPUS

In the midst of the lush paradise that is the Goan Campus of BITS lie several eateries that aspire to fulfil the culinary needs of the students and faculty alike. Here’s a list of the eateries that the BITSGians indulge themselves in:

Gajalakshmi – Popularly known as ‘Gaja’, Gajalakshmi is popular for its French Toast and Vada Pav specials. It serves as the go-to place when lunch in the mess is disappointing.

Mongini’s – This is where one gets delicious, creamy cakes to plaster faces on birthdays. Common sights include groups of professors sharing jokes over coffee.

Food King – Situated behind the library, the diner offers the best dosas and parathas. Great place to hang out with friends at night.

Institute Cafeteria (IC) – Located in the centre of the academic building, the IC offers full meals. It also houses the Cafe Coffee Day Express stall, a quick stop for dualites running from lecture theatres in the A to the C side.

Red Chilly – The newest addition to the list, it has already become a student favourite. Set up at the start of this semester, Red Chilly is a paradise for non-veg lovers.

HYDERABAD CAMPUS

From department meetings before fests to “interactions” with seniors, every extracurricular activity that set BITS apart from the “other” colleges of India revolves around eateries. It is said, that more decisions and consensus is brought about at the dinner table, than in corporate discussion halls. Though a lot might have changed since the hunter-gatherer age, the never-ending search for food is a constant, unifying factor over all these generations. Journal Club of BPHC brings you an overview of eateries in the Hyderabad campus.

Amul – With a decent range of ice creams and a few milkshakes, Amul is the go-to place for beating the heat. Amul also hosts the Amul Jam – the first Music Club event every year. The Amul JAM marks a transition – bidding farewell to the seniors graduating, while welcoming the new freshers onto campus.

C3 – One of the newest eateries on campus, C3 stands for Chai Coffee Company. Located near Mess 2, C3 began operations in the previous semester. Right opposite C3 is Cold Labs, which offers ice creams, sundaes, and milk shakes.

Cafeteria – Anybody going to the library is bound to be tempted for an ice cream sandwich, a soda, flavored yogurt, or a host of other stuff ranging from tea and coffee to pani-puri and samosa chat.

BITS N’ BYTES – There are two of them. One of them is near the Mess and another in CP. Usually abbreviated as BnB, it is another centre of culture in the campus .

Fruit Juice Stall – The fruit juice stall at CP is probably the only eatery on campus that hasn’t changed over the last four or five years. Apart from fruit juice, it also offers fruit bowls that come with ice cream on top and soda.

Yummpy’s – Other than the myriad shades of noodles, Yummpy’s offers momos, snacks like puff, samosa and chicken soup, and specials like French fries.
