Economics & Finance Association

The APOGEE English Press reached out to Manan Sethi, the coordinator of the Economics and Finance Association (EFA), to find out more about their plans for APOGEE ‘25.

Manan revealed that EFA will be organising three events for the fest: Bidwiser—a mock IPL auction featuring coaches and ‘legendary’ players, Stock Market Simulation—a four-day trading competition in collaboration with StockGro, and their brand new event, InvestoQuest—an equity research challenge that would begin in the days leading up to APOGEE and conclude with an offline presentation during the fest. He shared that they had begun working on their events in mid-January and were almost done with all the organisation on their part. Manan expressed enthusiasm over the events covering diverse aspects of the finance space in addition to trading, which he considered ‘very basic.’

Talking about the hardships faced, he shared that due to the lack of funds, EFA had to cancel one of their events, the Entrepreneurship Conclave, wherein they invited startups to present themselves in front of a panel of investors. This caused them to cut back on their other events as well. However, Manan expressed his hopes for this situation to be resolved, so that EFA can return with the Entrepreneurship Conclave next year. Additionally, EFA had to deal with delayed meetings and pushbacks, which led to a last-minute backlog. However, Manan assured that they had since taken precautions to ensure that things go smoothly during the event.

Manan stated that working with the CoStAA had been very smooth and fun. According to him, this experience as a coordinator had taught him a lot, even though it was hectic.

On a parting note, he said, ‘There are great events happening for every field that you look at, that will give you a lot of exposure if you participate in them, so just go out and explore.’
