The Economics and Finance Association (EFA) is a club that boosts financial and economic knowledge among its members, and holds talks and workshops on campus to encourage people to venture into these fields. 

The EFA is hard at work, according to Ram Mehta, their APOGEE coordinator. They are currently working on their pre-fest crypto trading event which is taking place in collaboration with Roostoo, a US-based start-up. However, there is more to look forward to.

The EFA is also organizing an event called SMS, or Stock Market Simulation. In collaboration with Coding Club, they look to simulate the dynamics of a real stock market by taking data from real markets, trading during actual market hours, and changing things with artificial news that affects these markets. This event culminates in a throwback to the old days of stock trading, with the Rotunda being turned into a trading floor.

The EFA is additionally hosting Bidwiser, an IPL Auction that teams can take part in, including cricket trivia. ‘IPL fever is back on,’ Ram added

Lastly, Monopilani—a fusion of the classic Monopoly with a game board replica of campus—featuring classic locations around the campus and references to the traditions of Pilani (like ‘GPLs, treats, and more’). Ram promised that Monopilani would be fun-packed and nostalgic for those who missed campus during lockdown.

‘APOGEE is a tech-fest. Only tech enthusiasts would go towards these events,’ Ram said. ‘Others would see how tech could be integrated with a fun part of it. If there is a combination of both, a majority of the crowd would rush in over there.”  He assured the AEP that EFA has been planning their event since November to ensure that students find the events a perfect mix of fun and learning.

Signing off, Ram said, ‘A fest is happening after almost two years since we went back home. It is the first APOGEE of the ’19 batch as well. So I would say that work would go on but it’s important that after two years we get to enjoy it since we are coming in together. So that should be the main aim of it.’
