Electrical and Electronics Engineering Association

The APOGEE English Press met with Srikar Nagulakonda, the coordinator of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Association for an interview intended to illuminate the association’s operations in the upcoming  fest.

Srikar began with an introduction of the association and highlighted that work for its members peaks during APOGEE, when they bring to fruition another edition of the Srikant Vishweswariah Analog Design Contest (SVADC). He also noted the association’s pivotal role in ensuring smooth recruitments into the EEE department’s Student Faculty Council. The EEE Association also plans out the farewell for department seniors.

Elaborating on SVADC, Srikar said that it was entirely funded by alumni, due to which the association had been largely unaffected by the constraints and uncertainties in the APOGEE budget. The contest, he said, would only be open to BITSians, according to the terms of the Vishweswariah family. The first round would be a written quiz, which he described to be not of the usual competitive nature where only the top teams qualify. Instead, there is a minimum threshold score and all teams that cross said score qualify to the second of the three rounds of the competition.

Srikar elaborated that the final two rounds are entirely hands-on and further the primary motive of the contest—to encourage students to design analogue circuits. The contest would be judged by a panel of professors, and would be separately organised for both first-degree and higher-degree students. He also confirmed that there are cash prizes for the winners.

Srikar was pleased to inform that his time as a coordinator had been ‘good’, most of which he spent on recruitments of new members. He assured that SVADC is meant to be a fun round for everybody, with none of the rigor normally associated with the circuital branches.
