Embryo

The coordinator of Embryo, Sakshi Gupta, took time out of her busy schedule to meet with the BOSM English Press and talk about the activities of the club during BOSM. BITS-Embryo is an institute body that invites chief guests and organizes the BOSM talk which takes place during the inauguration ceremony.

When it comes to preparing for BOSM, the primary objective of the club is to create a database of sportspeople and then invite them to deliver talks. Sakshi said that it was difficult to invite sportspeople this time, not just because BOSM was preponed, but also due to the global events which had been scheduled over the past few weeks.

Initially, Embryo was formed to educate students about courses that weren’t available on campus. This involved conducting online talks by various eminent personalities. The shift to holding fest talks happened in Oasis 2016 and since then, Embryo, despite still being an institute body, functions to conduct fest talks. Embryo has been pushing to widen its network and expand its existing database to have different people come to deliver talks.

The evolution of Embryo and its inclusion into fests had occurred before Sakshi was recruited, and she confessed that these factors played a major role in her decision to join the team. She also said that Embryo’s professor-in-charge, Prof. Rishikesh Vaidya, played a huge role in inspiring her to join.

Being a coordinator helped Sakshi hone her managerial skills and communicate with different types of people. She loved the experience and hoped to make the most of not just BOSM, but the upcoming fests as well.

Sakshi wanted BITSians to understand that every sports person must be welcomed and given respect, irrespective of his/her fame or sport. She is excited for BOSM, and hopes it will be a huge success.
