Amidst preparations for the upcoming Oasis, Anish Hatua, the Oasis Coordinator of BITS Embryo, set aside some time and sat with the Oasis English Press to give an idea of what the club was planning and how their preparations were going.
Anish said that BITS Embryo was a body that worked directly under the Director of the Institute, rather than being an independent entity. He added that for Oasis, the club was tasked with bringing the Chief Guest. He said that this year, they were also going to conduct a Panel Discussion which would feature various content creators and influencers, for which the theme would be digital content, the creation of online content, and how media was evolving in an online world.
Anish mentioned that Embryo began preparation for the fest a few months prior, reaching out to various people to find the Chief Guest for the fest. He added that it took a lot of persistent outreach efforts from the team to finally arrive at the same. He highlighted that once that was done, the work shifted gear into publicity for the event and logistics associated with the travel and accommodation of the Chief Guest.
He said that like last Oasis, the Mumbai Film Festival was occurring in close proximity to Oasis, and that presented a challenge to onboard celebrities. However, having gone through this problem once, he said that they had been able to onboard a more well-known Chief Guest this time and hoped to improve the experience this year even more.
When asked about how his experience as the coordinator had been, Anish said that it had been fun and hectic. He had found himself always on call with someone, texting or emailing to coordinate between teams and delegate the work. He mentioned that even though the work had impacted his academics, he found it a very good learning experience, as he had learnt how to deal with people and handle various situations.
As a parting message, Anish encouraged students to attend Oasis. ‘It is four days of nonstop fun, take in everything that Oasis has to offer because I can vouch that it is an experience unlike anything’.
