Embryo

The BOSM English Press recently interviewed Komal, the Coordinator of BITS Embryo. She touched upon the workings of her organisation and their role in the upcoming fest.

Komal explained that the organisation conducted semester talks and panel discussions around various topics pertaining to a wide range of people. She added that, recently, they had ventured into the domain of professional shows. They also invite the Chief Guest for BOSM, Oasis, and the OasisFilm Festival.

She stated that for BOSM 2024, BITS Embryo was in charge of inviting the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor. Talking about the standard procedure to be followed with the Chief Guest,  Komal explained that they give a speech at the inauguration, following which they head to Gym-G to light the ceremonial fires and officially inaugurate BOSM. After this, they are given a brief campus tour, ending with them having dinner with the director.

Komal also talked about how Embryo is tasked with calling athletes and their managers from across the country to attend and participate in the fest. She mentioned the dynamic nature of these interactions and touched on the difficulties that came with pitching the event to the athletes with zero budget. She went on to appreciate the systematic approach the organisation took pertaining to this process.

Komal reflected upon the ease with which the communications with the CoSSac had gone so far and commended them for the same. She revealed that the timing of the Paris Olympics and the Paralympics proved to be quite an issue, as a lot of athletes could not participate in the fest because of them being busy with the aforementioned global-level events. Nevertheless, she applauded the members of Embryo for being able to invite a Chief Guest and ‘keep things afloat’.

On a concluding note, Komal gave due credit to her juniors and batchmates and expressed her admiration and pride over their commitment and vigour. She added that she hopes the fest is a grand success and wished the best for everyone.
