The Oasis English Press sat down with Ritambra Mehta, the Oasis Coordinator and Managing Director of the BITS Pilani chapter of Enactus, to gain an insight into their activities for Oasis ‘25.
Ritambra explained that Enactus was an international organisation for social entrepreneurship, and mainly helped build socially sustainable startups. Some of the projects currently undertaken by the BITS Pilani chapter, she said, were ‘Project Amrut’ and ‘Project Kavach’. The former was aimed at manufacturing water filters made of potato gels and peels. She added that the latter was a multivitamin substitute for Calcium and Vitamin D3, sourced from waste eggshells around the campus and lanolin from camel and sheep fur-wax.
Ritambra relayed that her club would be organising around seven to eight events resonant with the ‘Whispers of Edo’ theme in this Oasis ‘25, following the success of the ‘Pani-puri eating challenge’ organised in the last edition. These events, she added, would be in collaboration with the Japan Foundation and the Japanese Embassy. They would include a yukata/kimono-wearing workshop, a Japanese merchandise stall, and a ‘Japan on canvas’ painting exhibition, among others.
Ritambra mentioned that her club had held extensive talks with officials from the Japanese Embassy and the Japan Foundation over the past two months to bring these events to life. She highlighted that the events organised by the club would be larger in scale than ever before, and would cover all of S-Lawns.
She further lauded the efforts of her colleagues and juniors, and acknowledged the support received from the StuCCA. Her role in the club, she added, was both challenging and rewarding at the same time.
On a closing note, Ritambra urged everyone attending Oasis ‘25 to visit the Enactus stalls, as all revenue generated would go towards a ‘good cause’.
