Entertainment Quiz (EQ) took place on Day 2 at ET Room 2220. Traditionally made by the Department of Informalz, the English Language Activities Society (ELAS) also helped conduct EQ this year, with the quizmaster being part of both. Around 20 teams participated in the preliminary round – a decent turnout since it was scheduled right in between the Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy concert, and Rocktaves, and also because the Oasis app showed EQ being held on Day 3.
The quiz was held in two phases – a written preliminary and multiple mini final rounds. There were twenty-five questions in the preliminary round, with questions ranging from movies, music, TV shows, and sports to name a few.
The top six teams progressed to the finals. Keeping the theme of “counterculture” in mind, Shenoy went against the normal five-to-six round finals of around ten questions each. Instead the finals consisted of six infinite bounce-pounce rounds and five written rounds, all of which had three to four questions each. It had both general rounds in the genres of music and sports amongst others, and also very specific rounds such as the Larry David appreciation round, the Women in Swedish Pop Music in the 2010s round, and the Nudity in Movies round.
The finals started off on a good note for Brain of Bits (BoB) Rangarajan and first year Effy, who managed to get all questions in two consecutive written rounds. However a good streak in the middle for BoB duo Samksha and Mustansir, made it a two-way fight for first place. A contentious decision to award points for a question that had its answer in the slide, cost the BoBs dearly, and they eventually lost by five points to Rangarajan and Effy.
