Fashion Club

Success lies not in results, but in efforts, and the strength of the effort is the best measure of the result.

This cannot be any truer than when speaking about Fashion club, which is back this Oasis, after being dysfunctional almost two years ago. We interviewed Priya Rana, the coordinator, to get a better picture of what all goes into the club’s functioning. Fashion as it is, comes with a list of pre-conceived notions, with people having an unclear idea as to what the club actually aims to do. Quick to point it out, Priya believes that modeling and designing are equally arduous and a breakdown of apprehensions is possible only through interactions.

Preparations for Fash P, the major event of the fashion club every Oasis, begin quite early. Planning and designing for the show takes about two months. Purchasing the right outfits, making design alterations and tailoring are undertaken. Models practice and perfect their walks and looks about a week before the show. Competing with the likes of NIFT and design schools is tough, but with no budget constraints and a great team, the club is looking forward to put up tough competition this year.

Priya aspires to return the club to its former glory, if not make it better. Her goal this year is to increase participation in competitions and fare better than the years before. Also in the works are plans to organize workshops on T-shirt designing & professional photo-shoots to increase outreach.
