As Oasis ‘25 inches closer, Anuj Wagh, President of the Fashion Club, sat down with the Oasis English Press for a quick chat about the club’s plans for this year’s edition of the fest. He said that he would be handling the club’s logistics and coordination with the StuCCA.
In line with the club’s aim to promote the fashion, music, and party culture on campus, Anuj said that this Oasis, like every other, they would be organising Fiesta de Neon but with Japan-themed decorations and cultural references, to incorporate the theme of the fest. He added that a new fashion magazine would also be started, which would showcase the best, most photogenic faces of Oasis every day. Another unofficial event, a movie screening of ‘Project X’ at Pizzeria, was also in the works, however, it was slated to be invite-only. He remarked that a ‘Fake Shaadi’ event had also been pitched, but was discarded due to ‘some issues with the StuCCA.’
Anuj mentioned that preparations for Oasis had started well in advance, at the end of summer, wherein the club’s first step was budgeting. When asked about the obstacles he expects to face, Anuj said that the 2025 batch ‘doesn’t seem interested in coming to crowded events,’ and thus thought that turnout could be a possible issue. He added that the ban on mess signings didn’t help their cause either. However, he said that the Fashion Club was working on it by ‘selling’ their history and legacy of events, such as Neon Night conducted by them.
To conclude, he remarked that BITSians today are more fashion-conscious than ever before and that this will definitely help encourage a strong turnout and response to the club’s planned activities for Oasis ‘25.
