Oasis
In a quick interview with the English Press Club, Anshal Shukla, the StuCCAn of the Department of Visual Media (DVM), shared the progress of the ongoing preparations for Oasis ’22.
There is growing anticipation for one of the most significant cultural festivals, but the official dates are yet to be released. However, if on track with the current schedule, Oasis ’22 will be held from November 19 to 23. Anshal informed that the fest theme is finalised and will be revealed in October. An effort is being made to make the theme stand out to set this year’s Oasis apart from past editions. The final number of events is yet to be confirmed due to ongoing pitching meets with various clubs and associations.
The main issue that StuCCA is now dealing with is conflicting academic timetables. This makes scheduling meetings with the entire workforce inconvenient. With BOSM and fresh recruitments lined up in October, it only adds to their concern for effective workload management. This year will not differ in scale compared to the last edition of Oasis. Presently, the teams are more focused on conducting the fest smoothly, hoping for no major issues to come their way. Before concluding the conversation, Anshal said, ‘I hope the students will have a great experience as we intend to deliver according to the current standards.’
BOSM
Joint Sports Secretary Shalini Solanke sat with the English Press Club to discuss the preparations for BOSM ’22. With the annual sports fest approaching soon, BOSM departments and CoSSAc have been increasing their work hours.
The official dates have been released, and the fest will last from October 14 to October 18, 2022. Numerous colleges have been sent invitations to participate in the fest. Shalini mentioned that talks with the concerned departments are currently underway regarding the ongoing preparations. DVM is presently working on the designs for the registration website, while the Coding Club has also made progress on its development and error-free working. Pitching meets are scheduled and will get underway shortly.
When asked about the effects of InterBITS being cancelled this year, she reasoned that it would only result in better participation due to the students’ eagerness. The merchandise for InterBITS was sold out eventually, hence no significant losses were incurred. With the possibility of COVID-19 cases rising again, its impact on the running of the fest might be a concern. Shalini assured us that current preparations have room for incorporating potential guidelines issued later.
Even though this will be her first time experiencing BOSM on campus, Shalini has experienced the BITS Premier League in the past. With BOSM, she expects enthusiasm from spectators and hopes the sporting events run smoothly without delays.
