BOSM- The Sports Fest
Held annually towards the end of September, the BITS Open Sports Meet (BOSM) is the first major fest experience for most BITSians. It stands as one of the largest student-led sports festivals in the country, drawing over 2,000 participants and spectators from colleges across India.
The fest encompasses a wide array of sporting events, including but not limited to table tennis, football, skating, squash, hockey, cricket, basketball, badminton, volleyball, chess, carrom, powerlifting, and bodybuilding. Among these, basketball and football are crowd favourites, with enthusiastic audience participation—especially through slogan battles—often matching the intensity of the games themselves.
While BOSM is primarily a sports fest, it offers something for everyone. Clubs on campus host various engaging activities such as quizzes, adventure zones, and gaming stalls. Evening professional shows, commonly known as ‘prof shows’, have featured popular music artists including Benny Dayal, OAFF, Savera, Naalayak, and Paradigm Shift, among others. N2O, the university’s flagship comedy show, has showcased renowned stand-up comedians such as Anubhav Singh Bassi, Prashasti Singh and more, in past editions of BOSM.
Attendees can also enjoy a variety of food stalls, with popular food-chain options like Domino’s and Taco Bell, offering a welcome alternative to the usual fare.
Oasis- The Cultural Fest
Oasis is one of the largest student-run cultural festivals in India, attracting a footfall of over 5,000. It brings together students from across the country to spectate and compete in a wide range of events spanning dance, music, drama, fashion, and filmmaking. It is a vibrant celebration of creativity and performance, usually held towards the end of October.
The main competitions include Desert Duel and Razzmatazz in dance, Tarang, Rap Wars, Rocktaves in live band performance, Swaranjali in classical music, FashP in fashion, Hyper-cut in ad-making, Metamorphosis in short film-making, and Stage and Street Plays. Operating on a large scale, Oasis offers a wide variety of experiences beyond performances and competitions. Club-organised activities such as Prom Night, Treasure Hunt, Rage Room, Adventure Zone, DJ Battle, Silent Disco, Neon Night and quizzes keep the energy high throughout the fest.Â
A major source of attraction for many attendees is the series of concerts held on three consecutive nights throughout Oasis. In previous editions, Indie Nite has featured artists like Taba Chake and The Yellow Diary, while Hip-Hop Nite has showcased rappers such as Seedhe Maut, Panther, and Smoke. Bollywood Nite, often the most anticipated event, has seen performances by renowned artists like Amit Trivedi, Farhan Akhtar, Kailash Kher, Vishal–Shekhar, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Papon and most recently, Vishal Mishra. Comedy also plays a big role, with the closing N2O show featuring stand-up acts by comedians like Harsh Gujral, Vivek Samtani, and Kenny Sebastian.
Additionally, stalls set up by clubs and a diverse selection of food options keep the campus buzzing with energy and activity for 96 hours of Oasis.
APOGEE- The Technical Fest
A Professions Oriented Gathering over Educational Experiences, better known as APOGEE, is BITS Pilani’s annual technical festival. Held at the beginning of April, it is the only fest conducted in the even semester. As Asia’s largest student-run technical festival, it is a celebration of science, technology, and innovation.
At the heart of APOGEE is the Think Again Conclave, a flagship lecture series that hosts leading voices across science, finance, literature, entertainment, entrepreneurship, and other domains. Past speakers have included the likes of Vint Cerf, Prof. Walter Lewin, Prof. H.C. Verma, Rakesh Roshan, and Dibakar Banerjee. Another highlight is RoboWars, where self-engineered robots from teams across the country battle it out in thrilling, high-intensity face-offs.
APOGEE also offers a wide array of events catering to different interests. These include hackathons, paper presentations, cart showcases, coding contests, quizzes, panel discussions, MUNs and interactive exhibitions, as well as casual crowd favourites like Night’s Watch, book fairs, murder mystery games, escape rooms, gaming zones, drone shows and movie screenings. The fest also boasts a mini literature fest called Papyrus Trails.
The evenings at APOGEE come alive with professional shows, featuring live music and stand-up comedy. In the past, the concert lineup has included artists like Mohit Chauhan, Aditya Rikhari and Chaar Diwari, while comedians Kullu, Samay Raina, Shreya Priyam and more have taken the stage for the N2O comedy show.
As with the other fests, campus clubs set up stalls with engaging mini-events, and the food court features a range of well-known food chains, providing students and visitors with a lively and enjoyable fest atmosphere.
