The Oasis Film Festival is being organised this Oasis in collaboration with the Film Division of the Government of India. The aim of the Festival is to promote an appreciation for cinema and film-making among BITSians.

Cine Glitz

The first event of the Film Festival, Cine Glitz, will be held during the Inauguration Ceremony. Abhishek Chaubey, the director of Udta Punjab, will deliver a talk about life in the film industry. Following his speech, the Director General of the Film Division will talk about the impact and importance of films in India.

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis is a short film making competition, where aspiring film-makers showcase their talent. The participants’ entry must be based on a particular theme. The theme for this year’s Metamorphosis is ‘Yin-Yang’.  The best entries are selected for the final round, which is held during Oasis.

Apt to Act

Apt to Act is an impromptu acting competition which comprises of two rounds. In the first round, participating teams will enact famous scenes from English or Hindi films. The top ten teams from this round will proceed to the second round. In the second round, teams will be given hypothetical crisis situations. The team with the best act in the impromptu round is declared winner of the competition. The judge for this competition will be an artist from Sukhmanch, a theatre troupe based in Delhi.

Vlog Making Event

A vlog making contest is also being organised as part of the Film Festival. Participants have to make a vlog depicting their experience of Oasis. The vlog should justify the theme of the fest. Sponsors for the event will be renting out professional shooting equipment especially for this event.

Repartition Du Film

Repartition Du Film, or Screening with the Critic is another movie screening – however, an acclaimed film critic will analyse the film as it is screened. This event aims to give an insight into how movies are reviewed in the industry.

Movie Screenings

Three theme-related movies will be screened during Oasis. These movies will be provided by the Film Division. The first movie, an animated short film will be screened before Repartition Du Film. The second movie will be screened before the final round of Metamorphosis. The third movie, a recipient of the Best Film Award in the Mumbai International Film Festival, will be screened on the last day of Oasis in the NAB Audi.  

Exposure

Exposure, a pre-Oasis event, is an annual photography competition where online entries are accepted before Oasis. they accept entries online and give the participants a chance to showcase their skills to the whole country.

Nomad will be a talk given by a famous travel blogger who will answer questions about their lifestyle and the way they started out. ‘Oasis Through My Lens’ a photography competition that requires participants to tell a story through pictures will also be part of the Film Festival. very popular photography competition conducted every year called ‘Oasis through my eyes’, requires participants to cover a unique story of the fest through their lens. A carefully curated collection of photographs will also be on display throughout Oasis.
