The registration and surveillance of outstation participants is an integral task in the smooth functioning of a college fest. At BITS, this responsibility is taken up by the Department of Firewallz.
The main work of the department consists of the pre-registration of participants, guest registrations and surveillance of participants during the fest. They guide the incoming participants to the booth of the Department of Controls and the Department of Reception and Accommodation (RecNAcc). Their Oasis coordinator, Raghu Boyola is trying to reduce the delay experienced by the participants. The department usually doesn’t have any work to be done before the fest but their main work begins on Day -1, when participants start pouring in.
When asked about his opinion of this year`s theme, Mr. Boyola remarked that he found it to be “really cool” but the theme of Oasis has always been something abstract and open to interpretation. They plan to implement this year’s theme on their panel. He remarked that his experience as a coordinator has been really enriching. In his first year, he felt clueless about tackling difficult situations. However, after gaining experience, he is confident in his department’s ability to handle any situation inside the campus. Talking about his department, he mentioned that he had supportive seniors and great juniors eager to make their time in the department, memorable.
He concluded the interview by saying that he wants people to enjoy the fest but participants should refrain from any malpractices, harassment or illegal activities. “The Department of Firewallz is there to help you all the time”, he assured, with a smile on his face.
