Prerit Rai, the coordinator of the Film Making Club (FMaC), took some time off his busy schedule to give us a brief overview of the work FMaC is doing this APOGEE. He explained that the club is organizing four events including a pre-fest workshop. He added that the club is also responsible for capturing the kernel events and prof shows, and making the Aftermovie of the fest.
FMaC is conducting its flagship event, ‘Uncharted,’ in which participants in teams of three to five unlock the Escape Room’s mysteries by deciphering clues inspired by iconic moments from popular films.
The club is also introducing a new event to this year’s APOGEE pre-fest lineup—a Blender Workshop—tailored for enthusiasts of the popular and versatile open-source 3D creation suite.
He stated that the club is bringing back their ‘Apt to Act’ event after a hiatus of five years. In this event, participants flaunt their acting skills by picking a theme to act on from a box of tokens listed with scenes from popular films and web series. The club is sourcing props for the event from vendors in Pilani and the Department of Art, Design and Publicity (ADP). Winners of the event would receive framed posters featuring timeless films and their references. Prerit emphasized that it would be a thrilling and engaging experience for all involved, offering a platform for creativity and expression through performance.
Lastly, the club is screening a film, after which a discussion has been organized where the audience can share insights, reactions, and appreciation for the artistry of filmmaking.
Prerit describes his experience in the club as a ‘homely feeling’ and is proud of the way the club has evolved ever since his induction into it. On a parting note, Prerit encouraged BITSians to partake in FMaC events, highlighting that while films are commonly perceived as cultural, they also embody technical intricacies.
