Football (Girls)- Vaishnavi Singhal

The BOSM English Press recently had the opportunity to sit down with Vaishnavi Singhal, the Captain of the girls’ football team, to discuss the team’s preparations for the upcoming fest. Reflecting on two months of rigorous training, Vaishnavi highlighted her team’s commitment to improvement through daily two-hour sessions that involve drills and practice matches. Apart from this, the team has been focusing on the development of new skills and techniques.

Vaishnavi shared that her team faced a challenge with limited access to the main football ground, due to a timing conflict with the boys’ football team. This issue had persisted even under the previous captain and was only resolved ‘to an extent’ after the arrival of their coach this year, she explained. Attributing this to a lack of recognition for the girls’ team, she hoped that with the support of CoSSAc, the situation could be addressed, allowing for more consistent practice slots.

Talking about recruitments for the 2024 batch, Vaishnavi stated that out of the eight players who tried out, five were selected, bringing the squad to thirteen members, including some players with state-level experience.

When asked about her experience as the captain, she shared that balancing academics and football was tough, but she explained how she prioritises both, occasionally delegating responsibilities to the vice-captain when necessary.

‘It’s been a learning experience, but I’m confident in the team’s progress. We’re doing our best, and we’re hoping for a medal this year.’ Vaishnavi said, talking about her experience leading the team.
