With Oasis only a week away, Aarav Goel, the Oasis Coordinator of the Gaming Club, was spotted working hard to make the newly-formed club’s presence felt. He sat down with the Oasis English Press to talk about the club’s work for the upcoming fest.
With members playing across modes like PC, console, and mobile, the club’s forte is Valorant in PC games and FIFA in console games. They also compete and organise inter-college gaming tournaments between semesters. The gaming industry has been present for a while but has gained popularity only recently. Speaking about the theme for this Oasis, Aarav said that in a way, he saw this as lost gold that is being searched for.
Organising a tournament for the first time in Oasis, Aarav said the tournament promises the stimulating thrill gamers live for. The tournament, Eclipse, will have more than 1000 participants competing across multiple platforms and games like Valorant and Call of Duty: Mobile. He mentioned that the club will also have a stall equipped with consoles, monitors, and controllers and all one has to do to play is walk in.
Aarav added that in collaboration with Inspired Karters – Electric, BITS’s own Formula-1 team, the club has come up with an F1 simulator to give the gamers a full-fledged experience of the sport. On receiving the car chassis from Inspired Karters – Electric, the steering wheel, pedal, and monitor were to be installed. This, according to Aarav, was not an easy task, but ‘the combined efforts of the club and the Inspired Karters team’ made the dream a reality. Aarav hopes and expects this collaboration to gather massive participation.Â
‘Being a coordinator is a lot of work, but since it revolves around something I enjoy, it’s not that hard,’ said Aarav. He added that since the club is relatively new to Oasis, help from the StuCCA on queue management and publicity has been really helpful. For the final lap of preparations, he said that contacting the vendors for equipment and getting the stall set up perfectly was the prime focus along with finalising posters and publicity. As a parting note, Aarav wished for the students to visit their stall, have fun, and enjoy Oasis to the fullest.
